Steve Davis – Marketing – Principal
Steve entered the life insurance business in 1985 with Mutual of Omaha as a soliciting agent in Austin Texas. In 1987 he moved to Dallas and worked for Diversified Benefits/ Nationwide Life Insurance Co. in the payroll deduction and defined contribution pension markets. From 1989 to present he has been a marketing manager for Insurance Designers of Dallas. Over the years Steve has developed a significant following in the brokerage market for his expertise in many different areas including advanced markets, medical underwriting, and product/company selection. He assists brokers in multiple disciplines including life insurance, annuities, disability income and long term care insurance. His long established practice benefits the broker with an extensive knowledge of the life insurance industry and its many applications. A graduate from Texas State University in 1983 with a BBA, Steve is also a career long member of NAIFA.
John Davis Jr, CLU – Marketing – Principal
John Jr. is a graduate of the University of Houston and has been a marketing consultant with Insurance Designers since 1992. Over the last two decades John has worked with hundreds of North Texas producers helping in pre-sale case design and assisting at the point-of-sale. With extensive knowledge of life, disability and long-term care products, medical underwriting, and innovative advanced planning concepts, John provides the producer with a significant value proposition. John holds the Chartered Life Underwriter designation from The American College and is a member of The American College Alumni Association.
John Davis, CLU – Past Principal
John is a graduate of the University of Houston with a BBA in finance. John joined the Life Brokerage Division of Connecticut General Life upon graduation. He received the Chartered Life Underwriting designation in 1975 and the Financial Counseling Certificate from The American College in 1982. John was the Past President of the Dallas Chapter of Chartered Life Underwriters in 1982-1983 and served on the Board of Directors. John was Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Dallas Estate Planning Council and a member of that Board for 10 years. John has been on the advisory board for most of the major insurance companies in the United States, as well as a member of the board of a Dallas-based life insurance company.
Steve Canan, CLU, LUTCF – Marketing
Steve joined Insurance Designers in 1998 and is responsible for supporting brokers in the distribution of various life insurance products, disability income and long term care policies. He assists independent life insurance agents and financial advisors with policy illustrations, client policy review, case design, client solutions and point of sale client presentations. Steve started his insurance career in 1978 as an agent with Metropolitan Life. He obtained his CLU and LUTCF designations and carries NASD Series 6 and 63 licenses. In addition, he has a Group 1 and variable product license with the State of Texas. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Steve is married with two children and enjoys tennis and golf.
Patti Bennett, CLU – Office Manager, Proposals/Marketing
Patti is a cum laude graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. She received her CLU designation in 1996. Patti worked in a life insurance regional sales office until leaving to help John Davis when he started Insurance Designers. Patti’s main focus is to assist agents in determining the best carrier and product fit for their clients. She helps agents and financial advisors with client solutions, policy illustrations, policy review and point of sale client presentations. In addition, Patti oversees the daily operations of Insurance Designers of Dallas.
Cindy Carrell – New Business Case Manager, In-Force & Policy Service
Cindy joined Insurance Designers of Dallas in 1994. Though Cindy’s primary support role is case management for life insurance, she also manages new business for disability, Medicare supplement, and both short term and permanent medical insurance applications. Cindy works diligently to be sure each case is handled efficiently and professionally and maintains an attitude that each case is important to the overall success of Insurance Designers of Dallas.
Lori Patek – New Business Case Manager, In-Force & Policy Service
Lori joined Insurance Designers of Dallas in July 2014. She is an experienced insurance professional in case management, underwriting and customer service. Her expertise is guiding agents through the application and underwriting process. She diligently interacts with insurance carrier personnel including underwriters and medical directors to ensure the best offer is obtained for each case.
Britney Murphy – New Business Case Manager, In-Force & Policy Service
Britney joined Insurance Designers of Dallas in January 2009 as our receptionist answering phones, doing various office tasks, and helping our agents with obtaining forms and information in a timely manner. She started working as a part-time Case Manager in April 2014 while maintaining her receptionist position. In July 2017 Britney was promoted to full-time Case Management doing New Business, Inforce, and Policy Service. Britney will help you with online application submissions as well as information needed regarding your case. Britney provides top of the line customer service and support to all of our agents. Britney is a certified nursing assistant through Navarro College. In Britney’s free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and their 2 children.
Chelsie Gaspard – Contracting & Licensing, Agent Commissions & Website Support
Chelsie joined Insurance Designers of Dallas in June 2006. Chelsie handles the contracting process with detail eliminating delays and ensuring smooth handling by home offices. In addition to contracting, Chelsie supports agents with information regarding state licensing and state required training. She also provides agents with carrier applications/forms and any marketing materials needed to complete the sale. Chelsie is an excellent source for our agents and works hard to make sure they are completely taken care of. Her other office duties currently include special projects such as creating presentations, assistance with agent commission statements, and handling various administrative tasks throughout the office. Chelsie completed the Nailba University BGA Employee Training Series in March 2013. When not at work, she loves to spend time with her husband and their 2 boys.
Erika Ewing – Receptionist
Erika joined Insurance Designers in September 2017 as our receptionist. Erika can help you find the right person to answer all questions you might have, and always has a welcoming smile on her face as she greets every guest that walks into our office. Additionally, she assists with daily outgoing mail, filing, and other various administrative and office support tasks. Erika graduated from Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. When she’s not working, Erika enjoys spending time with her friends and family, being outdoors, and watching football.
Tiffany Gross – Underwriter
Tiffany works closely with our case managers to bring an additional level of support to assist our agents with their large and difficult life insurance cases. Her skills include the ability to read EKG’s, interpret medical records and lab results. Having access to the same underwriting manuals many of the carriers use, Tiffany can help guide a case to the best possible underwriting outcome. You will find her very passionate about her career and she loves the competitive nature this business offers.
